10 Quality Zombie Movies Currently Streaming on Netflix

Posted: 09/19/2011 in Movies

Netflix has been making some head-scratching moves lately, but let’s not forget that it’s still a great way to watch zombie movies that you would: A) not want to risk spending money on by buying a DVD or watching on demand, B) be too embarrassed to check out at a video store (as if those even exist anymore), or C) may not have been aware existed. With that in mind, I’ve compiled a list of 10 high quality zombie films that are currently streaming and instantly available on Netflix. They are listed in order of awesomeness.

1. The Horde – Awesome French film. Part zombie movie, part action movie.

2. Dead Snow – Starts a little slowly, but once the Zombie Nazis are out in full force, it’s a really fun zombie romp.

3. Mutants (2009) – Another great French film. Focuses on the terror of losing a loved one to zombification. Could be seen as a metaphor for traumatic brain injury, mental illness, or addiction. Or you could just enjoy it as a cool zombie movie.

4. Dance of the Dead (2008) – Perfect combination of high school/prom movie and zombie movie.

5. DIEner (…get it?) – Low budget zombie done right. Funny and well-acted, DIEner succeeds where many of its no budget compatriots fail miserably.

6. Night of the Living Dorks – Works pretty well as a teen sex comedy. It also has zombies in it.

7. Doghouse – Proudly chauvinistic movie with a group of guys fighting off a town full of female zombies. Entertaining for what it is.

8. Zombie Farm – Takes awhile to get to the zombies, but the story is good enough that you’ll barely notice.

9. Zombies of Mass Destruction – It goes a little strongly for social commentary, but it’s still pretty entertaining and fun.

10. Boy Eats Girl – Another zombie comedy that’s pretty good if your expectations aren’t too high.

BONUS: Mutant Vampire Zombies from the ‘Hood – As goofy and stupid as the title would imply. It stars C. Thomas Howell, Ponyboy from the Outsiders!
